Temple – Kedarnath
The temple is situated in the Himalayan ranges in Uttarakhand. It is near the Mandakini river. The trek is approximately a 22 km walk from the Gaurikund. The Jyotirling is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas considered pious by the Hindus. The temple in Kedarnath remains open six months for the public. Post-Katik Purnima in November the lord is carried to Ukimath. Here the Deity is prayed for the next six months. The Legend has it that on the request of Nar-Narayan the dual incarnation of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva agreed to reside here. The Pandavas also had come to visit the lord on their final journey, the temple also is believed to be built by the Pandavas.
